OUR STORY

Background

New Life Church in Dunstable was founded by a group of Christians in the early 1990s as a non-denominational church to spread the gospel of Jesus in Dunstable, Houghton Regis and the surrounding villages.

In the beginning …

We were initially a part of Covenant Ministries International (CMI) led by Bryn Jones. Out of this emerged Lifelink International - now Lifelink Global - under the leadership of Alan Scotland. This is a family of churches working together, training and supporting humanitarian partnerships across the world. In the early days we met in people’s homes but as we grew we hired what was then Ashton Lower School (now the site of Aldi) and then had to move on to Ashton Middle School in High Street North for our Sunday meetings and other events.

Building a base …

In 2000 we purchased and renovated the old Co-op building in Houghton Road opposite All Saints Academy (then Northfields School). For many years we ran the Twinkle preschool and had a weekly Breakfast Club for the school opposite. But as time moves on and needs change we adapt and seek to serve our local community in other ways. Currently, these include Tumbles Play ’n Stay, Wednesday Youth and Foodbank.

Preparing for the future …

At the end of 2022, after more than 20 years in our building, we were excited to be successful in our bid to Central Bedfordshire Council for a Community Asset Grant. The money we were awarded has helped us to improve our facilities and make better use of our space to benefit the community as well as our own church family.

Making Jesus known

We are part of the Evangelical Alliance of churches and share their basis of faith.
